Spain qualify for their first semi-finals at the Women’s World Cup with an extra time 2-1 victory over the Netherlands.
Spain surprisingly subdued the 2019 finalists for most parts of the game, but there was no goal until the 80th minute when Mariona Caldentey converted the penalty that resulted from Stefanie van der Gragt handling the ball in the box.
Just before the final whistle, Stefanie van der Gragt atoned for her error with the equalizer.
Twenty-one minutes into the extra time, 19-year-old winger, Salma Paralluelo came off the bench to score the winner.
Spain will play the winner between Japan and Sweden, in the semi-finals on Tuesday.
