The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT Council, Comrade Grace Ike, has been honoured with the Humanitarian Award for Excellence in Service in recognition of her outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes and professional leadership.
The award was presented during the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Women of Glory Foundation held in Abuja recently.

Grace Ike was also recognized as the “Most Active Journalistic Mobilizer” for her efforts in promoting professionalism, unity, and developmental journalism within the media industry.
Receiving the award on her behalf, the Assistant Secretary of the NUJ FCT Council, Sharon Emephia, thanked the organizers for the honour and commended the Foundation for its decade-long commitment to humanitarian service.
“Ten years of sustained impact is no small achievement. It reflects resilience, vision, and a deep commitment to service. In a time when many initiatives struggle with continuity, your decade-long journey stands as a testament to purpose-driven leadership,” she said.
Founded by Dr. Nneka Evelyn Nzewi, the Women of Glory Foundation is dedicated to empowering widows, elderly women, single mothers, and other vulnerable groups through mentorship, skills acquisition programmes, healthcare support, advocacy, and faith-based guidance.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Nzewi recounted the personal experiences that inspired the establishment of the Foundation. She explained that the loss of her father at an early age left her mother solely responsible for raising five children under challenging circumstances.
According to her, witnessing her mother’s struggles inspired a lifelong commitment to supporting disadvantaged women and helping them rebuild their lives with dignity, hope, and economic independence.
Dr. Nzewi noted that the Foundation has expanded its humanitarian activities across Nigeria’s 36 states, addressing issues such as women’s welfare, violence against women and children, healthcare awareness, economic empowerment, environmental sustainability, and national development.
In her goodwill message, Grace Ike expressed gratitude for the recognition, describing it as a reflection of the collective efforts of the NUJ FCT Council.
“I sincerely appreciate this recognition and receive it with gratitude and humility. This honour is not only personal but also reflects the collective commitment of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, FCT Council, to promoting truth, development, and societal progress,” she stated.
The anniversary celebration attracted women leaders, professionals, entrepreneurs, and advocates from various sectors who gathered to commemorate a decade of humanitarian service and community impact by the Foundation.
The organizers also appreciated partners and supporters who have contributed to the Foundation’s growth over the years and called on more stakeholders to join its mission of transforming lives and strengthening communities nationwide.
