Aba Youths have called on stakeholders and voters in Abia South Senatorial District to support the senatorial bid of Abia lawmaker, Erondu Uchenna Erondu Jnr, describing him as the face of a much-needed generational shift in the district’s political leadership.

Speaking with newsmen today, the President, Aba Youth Vanguard, Hon. Hope Ogbonna, noted that since the return of democracy in 1999, the Abia South Senate seat has largely been occupied by an older generation of politicians, stressing that the time has come for a younger, dynamic and result-driven leader to represent the district at the National Assembly.

According to him, Erondu Jnr embodies a new era of leadership defined by innovation, grassroots engagement, accessibility and practical solutions to the challenges confronting the people, particularly the youths and women.

“The realities of today demand fresh ideas and youthful energy. Erondu Jnr represents that new direction. He has the experience, capacity and grassroots connection needed to provide effective representation for Abia South,” Ogbonna said.

He pointed to Erondu Jnr’s extensive empowerment programmes as evidence of his commitment to youth development, noting that hundreds of young people across the district have become entrepreneurs and employers of labour through his interventions.
Ogbonna cited the distribution of over 300 motorcycles, more than 92 vehicles, business support packages, scholarships, educational materials and healthcare assistance as strategic investments that have transformed lives and created sustainable means of livelihood.

“These were not handouts but empowerment tools. The motorcycles, vehicles and business grants enabled many beneficiaries to establish enterprises, earn steady incomes and contribute to economic growth in their communities,” he stated.

The youth leader further commended Erondu Jnr’s humanitarian initiatives, including the construction and donation of 43 houses to widows and indigent citizens, describing the gesture as a reflection of compassionate and people-centred leadership.
He argued that Erondu Jnr’s election to the Senate would expand youth empowerment beyond individual interventions to broader legislative and policy-driven programmes capable of creating opportunities for thousands of young people across Abia South.

In his words: “What we have witnessed so far is only a fraction of what is possible. If Erondu Jnr achieved these impacts as a local government chairman and state lawmaker, his representation in the Senate will open greater opportunities for youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition and economic inclusion across the district”.
Ogbonna also lauded Erondu Jnr’s legislative record in the Abia State House of Assembly, where he championed bills aimed at improving maternal healthcare, infrastructural development of communities through Corporate Social Responsibilities among other people-centred bills.
He urged political stakeholders and other aspirants in the district to rally behind Erondu Jnr’s bid, insisting that the 2027 election offers Abia South a unique opportunity to embrace progressive leadership anchored on competence, performance and youth inclusion.

He reaffirmed their readiness towards mobilising support for the lawmaker, maintaining that Erondu Jnr possesses the vision, experience and transformational leadership qualities required to move Abia South forward.

“For us, this is about the future of Abia South. It is about entrusting leadership to a capable younger generation that understands the aspirations of the people and has already demonstrated the capacity to deliver. Erondu Jnr represents that future, and the time for that future is now,” he said.
