Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting Nigeria’s global image by pledging comprehensive institutional support for Miss Nigeria, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as she prepares to represent the nation at the 75th Miss World Beauty Pageant in Vietnam.
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, made the announcement on Thursday in Abuja during the official presentation of Miss Nigeria as the country’s representative, describing the international pageant as a powerful platform for leadership, cultural diplomacy, social impact and national branding.
The Minister stressed that Nigeria’s participation goes beyond the pursuit of the coveted Miss World crown, noting that it presents a unique opportunity to showcase the country’s rich cultural heritage, creative talents and the exceptional leadership potential of Nigerian women before a global audience.
She expressed confidence in Queen Karibi-George’s ability to represent the nation with dignity, intelligence and excellence as she joins contestants from more than 130 countries and territories at the prestigious global event.
According to the Minister, the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly its focus on youth development, women’s empowerment and strengthening Nigeria’s international image.

As part of activities marking the country’s participation, the Ministry announced plans to host a high-level send-off reception for the beauty queen on August 5 at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja. The event is expected to attract senior government officials, development partners, members of the diplomatic community, media practitioners and other stakeholders.
The Minister further assured that the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs would provide full institutional support covering the contestant’s preparation, travel logistics and welfare throughout the competition.
She commended the Miss Nigeria Organisation, the Silverbird Group, partner institutions and relevant government agencies for working together to project Nigeria positively on the international stage, describing the initiative as a whole-of-government effort.
Calling on Nigerians to rally behind the country’s representative, the Minister urged citizens to offer their prayers and encouragement, emphasizing that irrespective of the final outcome, Miss Nigeria already carries the honour of representing the nation’s aspirations before the world.
Speaking at the ceremony, Miss World Nigeria, Queen Tamunosoye Karibi-George, expressed profound appreciation to the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, the Silverbird Group and other partners for their unwavering support toward her participation in the global competition.
She described the opportunity to represent Nigeria at the 75th Miss World pageant as the fulfilment of a lifelong dream, adding that her participation would inspire young Nigerian girls to believe in their dreams while showcasing the beauty, brilliance and limitless potential of Nigerian women.
“I will be flying my country’s flag high, showcasing our rich culture, our heritage and the beauty of the Nigerian people. This has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I am grateful to see that dream come true,” she said.
Karibi-George also commended the Minister for championing her participation from the outset, noting that the Ministry’s commitment had been instrumental to her journey.
She expressed optimism about the competition and pledged to represent Nigeria with honour, dignity and excellence while promoting the country’s cultural diversity and resilient spirit before the international community.
In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs, Esuabana N. Asanye, expressed confidence that Nigeria’s representative would make the nation proud at the global pageant.
She noted that women from the Niger Delta have continued to distinguish themselves in national and international beauty competitions, contributing significantly to Nigeria’s achievements in the industry.
The Permanent Secretary assured the contestant of the Ministry’s unwavering support and the prayers of Nigerians throughout the competition, expressing hope that she would return home with honour and bring glory to the nation.
She reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to empowering women by creating opportunities that enable them to excel across various sectors while urging Nigerians to unite in supporting the country’s representative at one of the world’s most prestigious beauty and leadership platforms.
