The Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has called on civil servants in Abia State to embrace hard work, productivity, innovation and personal responsibility as essential qualities for building a more efficient and effective public service.
Mr. Ojeikere gave the advice during a mentorship session, where he encouraged officers to remain committed to excellence, continuous learning and improved performance. He said these values are important to support the ongoing reforms and transformation of the Abia State Public Service.
According to him, effective service delivery can only be achieved through commitment, discipline and dedication. He reminded civil servants that public service is not only about earning a salary but also about serving the people and making meaningful contributions to the growth and development of Abia State.
The Head of Service said every responsibility assigned to a public servant is an opportunity to make a positive difference. He therefore urged officers to carry out their duties with honesty, integrity, accountability and a strong sense of responsibility.
Mr. Ojeikere also encouraged civil servants to improve their knowledge and skills through regular training and continuous learning. He advised them to learn from experienced professionals and embrace new ideas and modern ways of working that will improve efficiency, productivity and service delivery.
He noted that promotion and career advancement are based on hard work, competence and consistent performance. He warned that officers who fail to perform their duties diligently would be held accountable in line with the Public Service Rules.
The Head of Service further urged workers to take advantage of training and professional development opportunities provided by the government. He expressed confidence that a motivated, disciplined and well-trained workforce would help the state achieve its development goals.
Mr. Ojeikere reaffirmed the commitment of the Abia State Government to building a modern, responsive and people-oriented public service. He called on all civil servants to support the vision of the present administration by carrying out their responsibilities with dedication, professionalism and excellence.
