Rivers Govt Signs MoU With Rainbow Heritage Group On New Port City Devt

….To create massive jobs, industrial growth.

The Rivers State Government on Thursday, at Government House, Port Harcourt, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Rainbow Heritage Group in a strategic partnership to develop a new Port City in Eleme Local Government Area of the State.

The Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr Dagogo Iboroma, SAN, who represented the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara during the signing of the MoU, said the initiative is the vision of the Rivers State Governor to develop three new cities out of the monolithic city status of the State.

He said, ” Today we all are witnessing a great event that will start a new Port City in Eleme Local Government Area. That city will be seated on 1000 hectares of land, with all the features of a world class in place. It’s going to be a partnership between Rivers State Government, represented by the Greater Port Harcourt City Development Authority and Rainbow Heritage Group Limited.”

On his part, the Group Managing Director of Rainbow Heritage Group Limited, Biedima Oliver, said the organization has always desired to partner with Rivers State Government to create a new city that will transform the lives of the people.

He explained that the conception of the new Port City is based on the enormous potentials and strategic location of Rivers State as an economic hub and assured that the project will be delivered on time and on target.

“The new Port City has been identified to be a strategic location to have in the region that combines the blue economy, agriculture, industry, and real estate as a major power house in the West African Region. All the indicators and features needed to build the city are in place.”

The GMD stated that the city will thrive on a strategic partnership to create new jobs, new businesses, industries, exports and connectivity with other states.

In his remark, the Acting Administrator, Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, Dr Tonte Davies described the MoU signing as historic and a dream come through.

He commended the Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara for his vision of creating more cities in the State to expand development and expressed confidence in the track record of Rainbow Heritage Group to deliver the project, while assuring that the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, will work hard to achieve its statutory objectives.

He said the development will bring about massive employment, before, during and after construction, adding that the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority is working towards more than 1000 hectares of land to accommodate more satellite towns, based on its development dynamics which is centred around the old city, the international airport area and the Onne Port.
