Bianca Ojukwu Arrives Portugal for EurAfrican Forum

Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, has arrived in Cascais, Portugal, to participate in the 2026 EurAfrican Forum, where African and European leaders will deliberate on strengthening strategic cooperation amid evolving global challenges.

The two-day forum, scheduled for July 15 and 16 at the Nova School of Business and Economics, will bring together Heads of State, ministers, policymakers, business executives, development partners, academics, and private sector leaders to discuss critical issues shaping relations between Africa and Europe.

This year’s edition will focus on human capital development, trade and investment, energy, infrastructure, innovation, technology, and geopolitics, with participants expected to explore practical strategies for fostering sustainable economic growth and expanding cross-continental partnerships.

A major highlight of Nigeria’s participation will be Ambassador Odumegwu-Ojukwu’s opening address at the high-level geopolitics session on July 16. The session, themed “How Will Africa and Europe Navigate Global Geopolitical Turmoil?”, will examine the implications of shifting global political realities and identify pathways for enhanced cooperation in peace, security, sustainable development, and inclusive economic growth.

On the sidelines of the forum, the Foreign Affairs Minister is expected to hold a series of bilateral meetings with senior government officials, development partners, investors, and business leaders to advance Nigeria’s foreign policy objectives, deepen economic diplomacy, attract investment, and strengthen strategic partnerships with Portugal and other participating countries.

The Federal Government said Nigeria’s participation in the EurAfrican Forum reflects its commitment to promoting mutually beneficial relations with European partners while contributing meaningfully to international efforts aimed at addressing global challenges through dialogue and cooperation.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in a statement by its Spokesperson, Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, said the forum provides an important platform for advancing Nigeria’s diplomatic, economic, and development interests, while reinforcing collaboration between Africa and Europe in an increasingly complex global environment.
