BCA Honours Retiring TV Staff, Urges Integrity, Adaptability

The Broadcasting Corporation of Abia (BCA) has celebrated the meritorious service of two retiring members of its Television Department; Mrs. Ada Okore and Mrs. Betty Friday-Okezie, with speakers describing their careers as exemplary and worthy of emulation.

They urged workers to embrace change, uphold integrity and remain committed to excellence.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion, Arc. Chionye O. Chionye, encouraged workers to embrace change as an inevitable part of life, noting that the ability to adapt to changes in the body, environment and even climate is essential for personal and professional growth.

He also urged members of staff to build moral capital, describing integrity, credibility and good character as invaluable assets in the 21st century that would continue to yield lasting dividends throughout life.

The Ag. Director-General of BCA, Mr. Francis Nwaubani, stressed the importance of honouring individuals who have made lasting impacts through dedicated service.

He described retirement not as the end of active service but as an opportunity to explore new possibilities and respond to greater calls to duty. He also commended the Director of Television Services, Mrs. Oluchi Ikechukwu, for successfully organising the send-forth ceremony in honour of the retirees.

Earlier, the Director of Television Services, Mrs. Oluchi Ikechukwu, commended the retirees for their decades of loyal, dedicated and exemplary service to the corporation.

She described them as accomplished professionals whose commitment, discipline and selfless service contributed significantly to the growth and success of the Television Department.

According to Mrs. Ikechukwu, the retirees distinguished themselves through excellence in the discharge of their duties and served as dependable team players, role models and mentors to younger colleagues.

She noted that the legacy of hard work, professionalism and integrity they built would continue to inspire members of staff long after their retirement.

The Television Director urged the retirees to embrace retirement with optimism, describing it as the beginning of another rewarding phase of life, with opportunities to spend more time with family, pursue personal interests and enjoy the fruits of their years of meritorious service.

She prayed God to grant them good health, long life, peace and abundant blessings, while appreciating their families, friends, colleagues and other guests for joining in celebrating the occasion.

In his goodwill message, Rev. Blessing Amalambu urged the retirees to embrace the new phase of their lives with gratitude, faith and renewed purpose, reminding them that retirement is not the end of service but the beginning of another season of impact. He encouraged them to remain active in God’s work, continue to share their wealth of experience with younger generations and serve as positive role models in their families, churches and communities.

The cleric prayed that God would bless the retirees with sound health, long life, divine protection and abundant peace.

In their separate responses, the retirees, Mrs. Ada Okore and Mrs. Betty Friday-Okezie, expressed profound gratitude to the management of the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia for the opportunity to serve the organisation throughout their careers. They also appreciated their colleagues for the support, cooperation and cordial working relationship they enjoyed over the years, describing their time in the corporation as fulfilling and memorable.

They pledged to remain available whenever their services or wealth of experience might be required, assuring the corporation of their continued willingness to offer guidance, mentorship and professional support towards its growth and development whenever the need arises.

The ceremony also featured special renditions, goodwill messages from colleagues, friends and well-wishers, presentation of gifts to the retirees, and a celebration of their outstanding contributions and enduring legacy at the Broadcasting Corporation of Abia.
