Nigeria, Germany Renew Strategic Partnership

Nigeria and Germany have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening bilateral relations and building a stronger strategic partnership, with fresh emphasis on trade, investment, innovation, education, security and people-to-people exchanges.

The renewed commitment followed a meeting between Nigeria’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Germany, Ambassador Ita Solomon Enang, and Germany’s Ambassador-designate to Nigeria, Stefan Roessel, at the Nigerian Embassy in Berlin.

During the meeting, Ambassador Enang presented Roessel with his diplomatic visa processed by the Nigerian Mission in Germany ahead of his posting to Abuja.

Both diplomats used the engagement to explore ways of modernising and expanding the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and Germany.

Their discussions focused on strengthening cooperation in trade and investment, education, culture, innovation, regional peace and security, as well as people-to-people relations.

Ambassador Enang encouraged the German envoy-designate to engage broadly with Nigerians upon his arrival and gain first-hand experience of the country’s cultural diversity, youthful population and expanding economic opportunities.

He also urged Roessel to promote a fair and factual understanding of Nigeria throughout his diplomatic assignment.

In his response, Roessel expressed enthusiasm about his forthcoming posting to Nigeria and pledged to work towards identifying new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The meeting comes as Abuja and Berlin continue efforts to strengthen their longstanding ties and develop a more dynamic partnership anchored on shared economic and strategic interests.

Both sides expressed confidence that closer diplomatic engagement and expanded cooperation would further consolidate the Nigeria-Germany relationship and create greater opportunities for their citizens.
