Umunnato Specialist Hospital: Abia Govt Tasks Contractor on Timely Completion

 

Abia State Government has directed contractors handling the construction of the Umunnato Specialist Hospital, Alayi, in Bende Local Government Area, to accelerate work on the project to ensure its completion within the stipulated timeline.

 

Prof Uche gave the directive on Friday, when he paid an unscheduled inspection visit to the hospital construction site to assess the progress of ongoing structural work.

The Commissioner, who commended the engineering team and contractors for the quality of work achieved so far, stressed the importance of completing the facility on schedule to expand access to tertiary healthcare services for residents of Bende and neighbouring local government areas.

 

According to him, “delivering this facility on schedule is vital to expanding access to tertiary healthcare for the residents of Bende and surrounding local governments.

 

“The Ministry of Health remains resolute in modernising state healthcare infrastructure, and we expect all contractors to maintain high standards while meeting project deadlines”.

The Commissioner also called on Abians, particularly residents of Bende Local Government Area, to sustain their support for the administration of Governor Alex Otti and ensure his re-election in 2027.

He made the call while speaking at the 2026 August Meeting hosted by the Alayi Igboji Akuru Women Development Union (Home and Abroad) in Alayi, Bende LGA.

Prof. Uche highlighted the Otti led administration’s efforts in advancing rural infrastructure and ensuring equitable distribution of political appointments.

 

The commissioner noted that Bende LGA remains a key beneficiary of the state government’s human capital development and healthcare investments.

 

“I encourage the good people of Alayi to maintain their unwavering support for Governor Alex Otti.

 

“The tangible progress across Abia State demonstrates this administration’s dedication to good governance.

 

“Sustaining this momentum is essential to ensuring the completion of ongoing projects and the delivery of further developmental projects to our communities as we look towards 2027″, the commissioner stated.

He commended the Bende women for their decision to support Governor Otti and his team and expressed optimism that more dividends of democracy would reach the people of Bende and other parts of the state during the governor’s second term.

The Commissioner congratulated the Alayi women on their 2026 annual August Meeting and praised them for promoting unity, preserving their cultural heritage and demonstrating commitment to community development.

He also assured the women of his support for their community development projects.

 

The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Dr Chima Desmond Anyaso, and other Labour Party faithful also attended the August Meeting which featured a ceremonial march-past, cultural dance performances and the cutting of an anniversary cake by the women.
