The Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union has offered prayers for the Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, and pledged its support for his 2027 House of Representatives ambition.
The women gave the assurance on Friday at their 2026 August Meeting held at Alayi Central School, Alayi, which attracted Dr. Anyaso and other prominent personalities.

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Anyaso said his decision to personally attend the meeting was driven by his respect for the people of Alayi, despite having visited the community earlier in the week.
According to him, he initially considered sending a representative after receiving the invitation, having been in Alayi on Sunday, but later chose to honour the invitation himself.

Dr. Anyaso blamed the prevalence of poor-quality projects in parts of Bende Federal Constituency on what he described as ineffective representation, while commending Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, for his approach to governance.
He said the governor’s leadership had demonstrated the importance of competence and sound judgment in delivering sustainable development.
The Labour Party candidate further stated that many of his interventions and support programmes across Bende had been personally funded, assuring the people that he remained committed to serving the constituency.

“All what I have been doing in Bende is from my pocket, but by the grace of God, come 2027, God will send us to Abuja,” he said.
Anyaso promised that, if elected, he would pursue transparent and quality-driven projects that would have lasting value for communities in Bende.
He stressed that the constituency deserved infrastructure executed to the highest standards and said he would work to ensure greater accountability in the execution of federal projects.
Responding on behalf of the women, the President-General of the Women’s Wing of the Alayi Development Union, Mrs. Jane Okorie, prayed for Dr. Anyaso and expressed confidence in the realisation of his political aspiration.
“For taking care of Alayi women, that which is your heart’s desire will be granted come 2027,” she prayed.
The August Meeting brought together women from different parts of Alayi for interaction, prayers and discussions on community development and political representation.
Dignitaries at the event included the Abia State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Enoch Uche; the Deputy Mayor of Bende Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Ngozi Anya; and the Director of Women Mobilisation of the Chima Anyaso Campaign, Mrs. Ezinne Okorie, among others.
