The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has extolled the State Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Isaac Ukaegbu, describing him as an exceptional member of the State Executive Council during his birthday celebration.
The event, held at the commissioner’s residence in Amuzukwu, Umuahia, attracted friends, associates, and well-wishers who gathered to celebrate the transport commissioner’s life and service.
Governor Otti, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, conveyed the governor’s goodwill message to the celebrant and his family, noting that he had been directed to extend warm wishes on the special occasion.
The governor described Dr. Ukaegbu as a calm, humble, and dedicated public servant admired by members of the State Executive Council.
“My duty here today is very simple: to celebrate an extraordinary gentleman who is calm, quiet, and simple in his ways. He is someone we admire greatly at the State Executive Council,” Otti said through his deputy.
He prayed for continued prosperity, good health, and a sound mind for the commissioner, urging him to sustain his commitment to serving the people of Abia State.
The governor also expressed appreciation to the commissioner’s wife for the warm hospitality extended to guests during the celebration.
In his remarks, Dr. Ukaegbu expressed gratitude to God and to all those who joined him in marking his birthday. He noted that humility remains a guiding principle in both his personal life and public service.
Quoting biblical teachings, the commissioner said God gives grace to the humble, adding that humility often attracts unmerited favour.
“For me, life is about recognizing that none of us achieves anything by our own power; it is all by the grace of God. That is why I strive to remain humble,” he said.
Ukaegbu added that service to humanity is central to his philosophy, stressing that leadership should focus on helping people and alleviating their challenges.
He also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting Governor Otti’s administration and ensuring that residents of Abia State continue to enjoy the dividends of democracy.
“Politics is not just about elections; it is about ensuring that people enjoy the dividends of democracy. We will continue to serve, empower our people, and support the government in doing good,” he added.
Also speaking at the event, the wife of the celebrant, Ruth Mary Ukaegbu, thanked God for preserving her husband’s life over the years.
She encouraged mothers to remain prayerful and supportive of their families, urging them to pray for their husbands and children while exercising patience in family life.
Pastor Mrs. Ukaegbu also advised young people to embrace faith in God early in life, noting that spiritual guidance can help them succeed in their endeavours.
