Otti Pledges Support For New Labour Party Exco In Abia

The former Acting Chairman of the Labour Party (LP), in Abia State, Chief Emmanuel Nwaeze Otti, has pledged his full support to the newly elected state executive committee led by Peter Azubuike, assuring that he will work closely with them to ensure their success.

 

Speaking with journalists in Umuahia, Otti said he is committed to assisting the new leadership to thrive, stressing that unity and cooperation remain vital for the progress of the party in the state.

He said he would work together with them and support them to succeed, revealing that politics has its own language, and for them to succeed, it needs somebody that understands the language, pledging to render his full backing to the new leadership.

Otti noted that although he did not receive similar support from his predecessor, Ceekay Igara, he has chosen a different path by ensuring a smooth and peaceful transition for the new executives.

“What I did not enjoy from my predecessor, I will make sure my successor enjoys. I worked for a peaceful transition, something I didn’t get”, he added.

Reflecting on his tenure, Otti highlighted key achievements, including the conduct of local government tours, party sensitization efforts for the basis of stabilizing the party and the acquisition of a befitting office for the Labour Party in Abia State.

He also noted that his leadership contributed to the emergence of local government mayors under the party. He attributed his successes in office to divine grace and expressed gratitude for good health and a successful transition process.

On governance in the state, Otti commended the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti for strides made in key sectors, including, education, health care, infrastructure among others,noting that within a short period, the administration has brought recognition and restored dignity to the people of the state.

He encouraged the Governor to do, noting that those who were there before him, spent eight years without tangible progress, but disclosed that within a few years of the Governor, the state and its citizenry have regained their dignity.

Otti further expressed optimism about the future of the Labour Party, praying that the party’s influence in Abia would spread to other states ahead of the 2027 general elections.

On internal party matters, he maintained confidence in ongoing legal processes, expressing belief that the court rulings would continue to favour his faction, while dismissing opposition within the party.

He also declared his readiness to continue serving the party in a higher capacity if called upon.
