Governor Otti Congratulates Dr. Ibeleme on Investiture as Grand Knight of St. Mulumba

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has congratulated Dr. Sir Sylvester Ibeleme on his investiture as the Coordinating Grand Knight of the Knights of St. Mulumba, Catholic Diocese of Umuahia. The event took place at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Umuahia.

The Governor gave his message during a thanksgiving service held in honour of newly admitted 4th, 3rd, and 2nd Degree Knights. He described Dr. Ibeleme’s new position as a call to higher service and greater responsibility, saying it comes with high expectations. He prayed that God will give him wisdom, strength, and grace to lead well.

Governor Otti, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Emmanuel C. Meribole, praised the Church for its prayers and support to the government. He encouraged the Church leaders and members to continue playing their role in the moral and spiritual growth of society.

He also described the Church as an important moral guide in society and urged it to keep speaking the truth and promoting accountability, discipline, hard work, and the fear of God, especially among young people. He said a society built on strong values is key to achieving progress and shared goals.

Based on the homily on the theme “Good Shepherd,” the Governor encouraged leaders to guide and care for those under them so that people are not misled.

He further asked the Church to keep praying for the state, support ongoing reforms, and encourage citizens to obey laws and contribute to the common good.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to working with the Church and other groups to build a more just, peaceful, and prosperous Abia State.

In his sermon, the presiding priest said leadership is not just a title but a responsibility that requires selfless service. He urged leaders, both religious and political, to lead with honesty and integrity. He also encouraged people to appreciate leaders who are making positive changes, pointing to the Governor’s efforts in developing the state.

In his response, Dr. Sylvester Ibeleme thanked God for the honour and opportunity to serve as Coordinating Grand Knight. He also appreciated Governor Otti for his support and representation at the event, and prayed for God’s guidance in his new role.
