The remains of Lady Obiageliaku Vanessa Nwachukwu, wife of the Member representing Umuahia South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly, Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu, has been laid to rest in her husband’s home, Mgbarakuma Ubakala in Umuahia South Local Government Area of Abia State.
Speaking in a sermon during the funeral service held at the Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Apumiri, Ubakala, the Archdeacon in-charge, Ven. Obinna Orji, saliently noted that God is the owner of life and that no man can outgive God no matter how wealthy and magnanimous he appears to be.
Taking his text from the book of Mark 10:28-30, the cleric however, revealed that the followers of Jesus Christ can never have an easy life in the world therefore encouraged christians to remain firm in their trust in God adding that the only antidote to vicissitudes of life is for men to stop chasing shadows of wealth and go for the substance which according to him is Jesus Christ himself.
While consoling Hon. Nwachukwu and his family to take solace in God’s word, Ven. Orji expressed confidence that the dedication of the deceased to the things of God would earn her a place in God’s kingdom.
Speaking on behalf of the Abia State House of Assembly lawmakers, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, described the demise of Lady Vanessa Nwachukwu as painful and shocking pointing out that death is an inevitable end of every mortal.
He said he came on behalf of his family and the entire membership of the Abia State House of Assembly to condole with their colleague, Hon. Nwachukwu, and enjoined him to anchor his faith in God, his Maker, noting that he will not disappoint him.
In a biography read by one of the deceased’s family members, Ukaoma Ochei, described, Late Vanessa, as a God-fearing and dedicated Christian who spent quality time to serve God in different capacities especially in the women’s wing, mother’s union and Guild of the Anglican Communion among others.
According to the biography, she spent her career days in the Banking industry and worked in various commercial banks where she rose to the position of Head of Operations at the Polaris Bank Plc, Mpape Branch, Abuja, a position she held until her death.
Meanwhile, in a tribute presented by the Council of Ladies, Umuahia South Archdeaconry, identified the deceased as their staunch member, who worked hard in serving God while she was alive adding that she was humorous and dedicated in her service to God and mankind,and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest.
Late Vanessa Obiageliaku Nwachukwu who died at the age of 41, was survived by her Husband, Hon. Chijioke Nwachukwu, their only child, Ikenna Jason Nwachukwu, and a host of family members.
The funeral ceremony attracted the presence of the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Rt.Hon.Sir Ude Oko Chukwu, Abia State Lawmakers, and many politicians of note in the State and beyond.
