The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Chima Anyaso, has pledged to strengthen the party’s grassroots structures beyond the next general election, assuring ward leaders of continued inclusion in his political engagements.
Anyaso gave the assurance on Thursday during a meeting with Labour Party ward chairmen at his country home in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, where the party leaders also expressed confidence in their ability to mobilise widespread support for his candidacy.
The Chairman of the Council of Ward Chairmen and Labour Party Chairman of Item Ward B, Pastor Thomas Ukonu, said the ward executives were committed to working with Anyaso to deepen the party’s presence across the constituency and mobilise voters ahead of the 2027 polls.
Ukonu emphasised the importance of effective collaboration between the candidate and ward leadership, describing grassroots structures as essential to the party’s electoral prospects.
In his response, Anyaso said his commitment to the Labour Party would not end with the 2027 election, stressing that he was determined to build a sustainable political platform that would remain active beyond the electoral cycle.
He disclosed that plans were already underway to establish a lasting party structure in Bende, with opportunities for members to remain engaged and contribute to the party’s growth.
The Labour Party candidate further assured the ward chairmen that their contributions and interests would be recognised, noting that inclusive leadership and active grassroots participation were necessary for building a strong political organisation.
The meeting formed part of Anyaso’s ongoing consultations with party leaders and grassroots stakeholders across Bende Federal Constituency as political activities gather momentum ahead of the 2027 general election.
