The Abia state Branch of the Miyetti-Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria, has called on the Governor of the state, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, to give cattle breeders land for grazing activities.
Speaking with National Ambassador in Umuahia recently, the chairman of the association in Abia state, Hassan Buba, said as the governor resumes his second tenure,he should consider among other things, giving of some plots of land to the Miyetti-Allah association, so that they can carry out their grazing peacefully without going into people’s farms.
Buba who spoke through the Secretary of the group, Abubaka Buba said they appreciate the existing peace between them and the state, but pleaded that an area be given them to do their business, so that the continuous herders/ farmers clashes could be curtailed.
The Secretary said apart from the request for some parcel of land, the association would also need government assistance in the purchase of medicine and feed for their cattle, so that they won’t have any reason in entering people’s farmland for the search of feed.
While congratulating the governor for his second coming, they disclosed their unalloyed support to the governor, promising to maintain the peace between the state, its citizens and herders in Abia.
