The Deputy Governor of Abia State Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu,has commended the effort and transformational agenda of Ohafia Local Government Council Mayor Chief David Ogba Onuoha .
Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu made the commendation during a tour at the Local Government Council Secretariat to inspect and assess the level of work being done with regards to reconstruction and rehabilitation of various structures and offices within the Secretariat.
The deputy governor expressed delight over the massive transformation that is ongoing at the council headquarter; administratively, infrastructural wise and general welfare of workers in the Local Government under the leadership of Chief David Ogba Onuoha.
Speaking to our reporter, the Mayor of Ohafia LGA, Chief David Ogba Onuoha explained that it was pertinent to embark on the renovation and rehabilitation of the various structures and offices as they were in deplorable and dilapidated condition.
He also emphasized on plans to secure the parameters of the Council premises to ensure security and safety of workers and property.
He opined that the purpose of leadership is development and transformation while promising to give the Local Government Council Secretariat a new look to make it very conducive for workers to improve productivity.
The Mayor also disclosed that the entire project is being handled by the Works department of the local government council, he explained that the decision not to involve an external contractor is to give the department of works a sense of belonging and opportunity to exhibit their expertise as they come to practical with present construction practices, while helping them improve on their existing knowledge.
The various buildings currently undergoing renovation includes; Women Development Center Complex, LG Council Chapel, LG Council Multi Purpose hall, FG block, skill acquisition center block, works department building , traditional rulers pavilion.
The Mayor explained that the project will be in phases as the next phase will ensure the renovation of other structures including the Legislative Building and other offices. However, some offices that have been renovated & retrofitted includes; Mayor’s Office, Mayor’s Conference room, Deputy Mayor’s office, and offices of some principal staff.
The Deputy Mayor of Ohafia, Hon. Mkpa Uka in his reaction expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor for his visit and reiterated their commitment to effective and transformational leadership.
