Senator Orji refutes publication against him by SERAP

The immediate past Governor of Abia State and the Senator representing Abia Central at the National Assembly Senator Theodore Ahamefule Orji, has refuted the recent  publication against him in one of the National dailies by the Deputy Director of Socio-Economic Right and Accountability Project, SERAP, Mr. Kolawole Oluwadare describing it as malicious and defamatory.

Senator Orji disclosed that SERAP through its Director, Kolawole Oluwadare in a publication in Daily Independent Newspaper, of July 1, 2019, page 41, had accused him of receiving  double pay of pensions from the Abia State government coffers requesting him to return same.
Orji in a statement released by his Media Adviser, Chief Eddie Onuzuruike and made available to newsmen, said they had earlier in a press release disclaimed such reports as falsehood and demanded that it be jettisoned.
The statement further disclosed that eventhough that Senator T.A Orji reached the apex of the civil service cadre as a permanent secretary, he has a clear understanding of the implications and dire consequences of collecting pension while being remunerated as a serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The Senator Orji is not collecting any pension from Abia State Government”, Onuzuruike stated.
He, therefore, firmly demanded SERAP and Kolawole to retract the information from the Nigerian daily and apologize to Senator T.A Orji before a legal action is instituted against them.
