The Labour Party candidate for Bende Federal Constituency in the 2027 House of Representatives election, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has congratulated the leadership and members of the Umuahia Central Jerusalem District of Assemblies of God Nigeria on the successful hosting of its 2026 Mega Worship.
The annual programme, held on Sunday at the Assemblies of God Church, 5–8 Item Street, Umuahia, Abia State, attracted church leaders, government officials, politicians, ministers and worshippers for a session of worship, fellowship and spiritual reflection.
Anyaso, who was listed as one of the Guests of Honour, was represented at the event by the Director-General of his Campaign Organisation, Pastor Dike Okechukwu, and the Director of Media and Publicity, Hon. Promise Uzoma Okoro.
In a congratulatory message delivered through his representatives, Anyaso commended the District Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Henry Ochuba Emelike, the presbytery and members of the district for organising what he described as a significant gathering for spiritual renewal.
He also applauded the Guest Speaker, Rev. Dr. Chidi Okoroafor, for his message on spiritual revival and his call for the Church to rediscover and uphold its foundational mandate.
According to Anyaso, the Church remains a critical institution in the development of society and should continue to promote integrity, morality, compassion and responsible leadership.
He urged Christians to take a more active role in the affairs of society, particularly by supporting leaders committed to restoring hope, accountability and good governance.
Earlier in his welcome address, Rev. Emelike described the successful hosting of the Mega Worship as evidence of God’s faithfulness despite the economic difficulties confronting Nigerians.
Referencing 2 Corinthians 4:8–9, the District Superintendent urged Christians not to allow hardship and pressure to weaken their faith, stressing that adversity should rather strengthen their resilience and trust in God.
Rev. Emelike also commended the administration of Governor Alex Otti for its efforts to tackle corruption and improve governance in Abia State, attributing part of the Governor’s commitment to his faith background.
He called for increased investment in institutions and initiatives capable of strengthening moral values and promoting godly principles in society.
Anyaso, through his representatives, expressed appreciation to the district leadership for the invitation and praised Rev. Emelike for his leadership and efforts toward the growth of the Church.
He further appealed for continued prayers for his aspiration to represent Bende Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2027, expressing confidence that divine guidance would remain central to his political journey.
