Olokoro for Otti Mobilises Support for Otti’s Development Agenda
The Director-General of Olokoro for Otti, Dr. Grant Nnamdi Atuma, has said the group was established to mobilise residents of the 15 communities in Olokoro in support of the development agenda and achievements of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
Atuma disclosed this while speaking with newsmen shortly after the dedication of the new church building and vicarage of St. John’s Anglican Church, Itaja/Amuzu Parish, Olokoro West Archdeaconry, during the church’s centenary thanksgiving, confirmation and admission service.
He said Olokoro for Otti was formed about two months ago to propagate the achievements of the Otti administration at the grassroots and correct what he described as misconceptions that Olokoro was being left out of the state government’s development programmes.
According to him, the group would mobilise residents across the 15 communities of Olokoro and engage religious organisations, schools, community leaders and traditional institutions in creating awareness about the administration’s development initiatives.
Atuma explained that the group had developed a six-month strategic plan to systematically reach out to different segments of the community, stressing that its activities would go beyond partisan politics to encompass socio-cultural and community development.
He said the group’s presence at the centenary celebration of St. John’s Anglican Church was in recognition of the church’s contribution to spiritual development, character formation and the advancement of the community.
“Olokoro for Otti, this is our Olokoro. There’s no other Olokoro. So, wherever anything that has to do with development and advancement, we are going to be part of it,” Atuma said.
He stressed that the group’s support for the church was not about an individual, but about identifying with institutions and initiatives contributing to the development of Olokoro.
“It’s not about Ken; it’s about the body of Christ. It’s about propagating whatever development that needs to be done,” he added.
Atuma said Olokoro for Otti would also promote the governor’s achievements and mobilise grassroots support for his administration, with the aim of making the group a household name across Olokoro.
He maintained that the organisation was committed to advancing the political, socio-cultural and developmental interests of the people, adding that it would continue to engage stakeholders across the community.
The Director-General expressed optimism that the group’s strategic grassroots mobilisation would strengthen awareness and support for Governor Otti’s development agenda in Olokoro.
He added that Olokoro for Otti was “here to stay” and would remain committed to promoting the advancement of the community.
