A Woman receiving palliatives from the wife of Abia Governor , Mrs Priscilla Otti
The Abia State government, in collaboration with the Renewed Hope Initiative, has distributed bags of rice and cartons of tomatoes to over 1000 indigent women in Abia.
Today, at the Kolping Society Hall, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, the wife of the Governor, distributed palliatives and praised the efforts of Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Governor Otti in improving the welfare of women and millions of households across Nigeria to help them live better lives
Mrs. Otti explained that the Renewed Hope Initiative so far has made significant efforts towards making life better and easier for women.
“Recently, Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu provided financial grants to 1,000 Abia women petty traders to help them expand and improve their businesses, support their families, and enhance our local economies.
“I am happy to announce that some have started receiving credit alerts.
” For the beneficiaries, this is the time to fulfill your economic dreams and for those who are yet to benefit, be assured that more initiatives and opportunities are on the way and you will definitely benefit” she said.

Mrs. Otti also praises the management of Erisco Foods for helping them by providing tomato paste to reach more households in order to alleviate the effects of hunger. She added that the country’s leadership is working diligently to overcome the current hardships being faced by the nation.
However, Mrs. Otti encourage Abia women to be self-reliant by taking up skills and jobs.
According to her, “when you become self-reliant, you can better support yourselves and your communities without government interventions.
Our people are industrious, I trust your abilities to make meaning out of life. To meet the demands of this century, you must have a skill. As we plan to make Abia the food basket of our nation, I encourage you all to venture into agricultural activities. It’s necessary you start producing what you can eat and sell what you produce to improve our economy” Mrs. Otti said.
In their separate remarks, the chairperson of police officers wives association(powa), Mrs. Ihuoma Okoro, chairperson of Nicowa, Mrs. Lizzy Uka, chairperson of Aowa, Mrs. Lara Adebayo and others thanked Mrs. Otti for carrying them along.
Also, the commissioner for women affairs, Dr. Maureen Ahukwa and the special assistant to the Governor on poverty alleviation and the vulnerable groups, Mrs. Ifeoma Thomas praised the administration of Governor Otti for changing the narratives in Abia adding that palliatives from the federal government and the state now gets to the intended recipient without being hoarded by politicians.
Also included in the distribution are women from All Progressives Congress, Peoples Democratic Party, Accord Party, Zenith Party, and others.
Meanwhile, the high point of the event was the decoration of Mrs. Otti by the federation of moslim women association for carrying all along without discrimination.
