Otti Pledges Support For FG’s Next Generation Project To Boost Youth Leadership In Abia

 

Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to promote youth leadership and reorientation by supporting the Federal Government’s Next Generation Project.

 

Governor Otti made this known, Wednesday, during a meeting with the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Citizenship and Leadership, Miss Rinsola Abiola, in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South.

The Governor noted that the initiative, aimed at encouraging youth engagement and leadership development across Nigeria, aligns with Abia State’s ongoing rebuilding agenda.

 

He emphasized the vital role of informed citizenship in strengthening governance and described leadership and citizen engagement as fundamental to sustainable development.

The Governor underscored the need to foster an environment where citizens understand the long-term impact of their choices and expressed governments readiness to deploy relevant resources to ensure the success of the project in Abia.

“I have spent sometime talking about leadership and leadership selection process.

 

“So if you make a mistake in your leadership selection you are going to live with it for as long as the tenure of that administration or the person that you selected would be in power.

 

“So we will be relying heavily on you to educate and get our people to get involved.

 

“Leadership is key and very critical, of course fellowship is important because it is the fellowship that selects leadership”, Otti said.

In her address, Abiola commended Abia State for its proactive stance on the Next Generation Project, which focuses on youth reorientation, youth leadership and engagement

 

She commended Governor Otti’s administration as an inspiring example for young Nigerians, and encouraged them to view education as a pathway to impactful citizenship.

“Our young people need to have positive role models spotlighted, so that they know that education is not a waste and that they will also have to grow up to aspire to be citizens who positively impact the country.

 

“They need to know that there are good people in the country with legitimate incomes and backgrounds, a very good example would be you Your Excellency, that should emulate”, Abiola said.

She expressed the Federal Government’s dedication to promoting quality leadership and responsible citizenship, with Abia becoming the first southern state to implement the Next Generation Project.

 

Earlier, the Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr Goodluck Ubochi, said that the rebuilding agenda of the state government had contributed significantly to the transformation of youths in Abia.

“The transformation among our youths has been tremendous and awesome, and they have started doing well in various competitions”, Ubochi said.
