The Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Otti, has expressed confidence that his administration will complete its mandate, insisting that political activities ahead of 2027 will not derail ongoing developmental projects.
Speaking on Tuesday at his office in Nvosi, Isiala Ngwa South LGA, while receiving members of the Old Students Association of the Federal School of Arts and Science Aba, Governor Otti said his focus remains on governance and delivering on promises made to the people of the state.

The Governor stated that although political processes such as party primaries and general elections were approaching, they would not serve as a distraction to his administration.
According to him, Abia people are discerning and understand what is in their best interest, noting that it would be unlikely for them to abandon progress so far recorded across the State.
Governor Otti further attributed the trajectory of leadership in the state to divine providence, describing Abia as “God’s own state” where changes occur at the appropriate time.

He added that God does not embark on unfinished business and expressed confidence that his administration would complete the projects entrusted to it by the people.
“About 2027, we don’t let it distract us, but you have a point. Primaries will happen within the month and then elections will be next year.
“We know that Abia people are not stupid. They know what is good for them. Because of that, we also know that (Opposition gimmicks) it’s all about politics. And I’m not too sure that there is someone that would want to throw away what is good.
“This place is God’s own state. So at the time that it pleased God, he makes changes here.
“And God doesn’t have unfinished business, or unfinished project, so we are confident that we will complete the project that we have been asked to do by Abians”, the Gov said

He commended the alumni association for its initiative to renovate one of the hostels in their alma mater, describing the intervention as commendable.
Governor Otti noted that the gesture reflects a strong sense of responsibility and commitment to the institution and encouraged members to sustain their efforts.

He also appreciated the association for choosing Abia as the venue for its biannual meeting, noting that the decision is in recognition of the improved security and development in the state.
On infrastructure, Governor Otti highlighted his administration’s support for power sector reforms, pointing out that his decision to support to Prof. Bart Nnaji and the Aba power project is aimed at ensuring steady electricity supply across the state.
The Governor disclosed that the state government has signed an agreement and was at the payment stage to acquire the Umuahia ring-fenced area of the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC).
He explained that upon completion, the arrangement would enable the extension of power from Aba to the remaining eight local government areas in Abia Central and Abia North.
He noted that with additional turbine, power generation could reach 188 megawatts, thus allowing surplus electricity from Aba to be transmitted to other parts of the state and added that the establishment of the Abia State Electricity Regulatory Agency has positioned the state to independently regulate its electricity market.

Earlier, President of the Old Students Association, Pharmacist Tony Ejieji, commended Governor Otti for what he described as significant improvements in security and infrastructure across the state, noting that the prevailing peace influenced the association’s decision to hold its meeting in Abia.
Pharm. Ejieji praised the Otti led administration’s developmental strides, including visible infrastructural projects and improvements in power supply in Aba and urged the Governor to sustain the momentum and complete his mandate.

He expressed optimism that progress recorded under the current administration would be preserved and urged the Governor to forge ahead with the fulfilment of his God-given mandate.
