Housing scheme: 200 units of bungalow ready for civil servants in Akwa Ibom

About 200 units of bungalow built under the Federal government housing scheme in Ibiono Ibom/Ikono Local councils of Akwa Ibom State are ready for Civil Servants in the State.

The Managing Director of Akwa Ibom Properties investment Company, APICO, Engr Patrick Udomfang who disclosed this on Monday in an interview with newsman in his office said the bungalows which contained three bedroom flats would not cost more than seven million Naira.

He noted that the issuance of the housing unit to civil servants would be based on first come basis irrespective of the grade level.

He also disclosed plans of the State government to start another housing estate in Abak and Eket Local Government Areas noting that those who could not get a house in Uyo, the State capital can have in Abak or Eket which are close to Uyo.

His words. “About 200 units of houses situated in Ibiono Ibom and Ikono Local Government Areas housed by Federal Mortgage bank have been completed. What we are waiting for now is the final assessment and submission to federal mortgage bank to pay the developers and for the off takers which are strictly civil servants to take the keys of the houses.

“The number of houses in the map is actually 2000 but 200 has been completed so far and it would be given out in phases on first come basis. The price will not exceed N7 million as it is a three bedroom bungalow with adequate space.”

The MD who expressed need for more housing development in the State commended Gov. Udom Emmanuel for investing in civil service housing scheme noting that such gesture was a confirmation of the fact that a personal home is the pride and traditional integrity of a typical Akwa Ibom man.

He further expressed optimism that the proposed housing estates would be completed in no distant time
