OTTI CHARGES FATHERS TO UPHOLD GODLY VALUES, RESPONSIBLE LEADERSHIP

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has called on fathers to uphold godly values, strengthen family bonds and embrace their responsibilities as leaders in the home and society.

Otti made the call during the 2026 Fathers’ Day Celebration of the Anglican Diocese of Aba Ngwa North held at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Umuocham, Aba, Abia State.

The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, said fatherhood remains one of God’s greatest callings, stressing that fathers are entrusted with the responsibility of nurturing lives, shaping character and building a godly legacy for future generations.

He emphasized that fathers should train their children in the fear of God and instill sound moral values in them, noting that strong families produce responsible citizens who contribute positively to societal development.

According to him, fatherhood is not only a family responsibility but also a nation-building responsibility, as fathers play critical roles in raising future leaders and promoting social stability.

Dr. Otti commended fathers across Abia State for their sacrifices, resilience and commitment to the welfare of their families despite prevailing economic and social challenges.

He assured that the present administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for families to thrive through sustained investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education, security and economic empowerment.

The Governor also paid glowing tribute to the founder of St. Paul’s Anglican Church, Umuocham, Venerable Dr. Lawrence Utaegbulam (Rtd), describing the 96-year-old medical practitioner and churchman as a shining example of service, integrity, sacrifice and unwavering faith.

He said Dr. Utaegbulam’s vision and dedication to the growth of God’s Kingdom have positively impacted generations of worshippers and deserve recognition and celebration.

Earlier, the Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Aba Ngwa North, Rt. Rev. Nathan Kanu, and the leadership of the church appreciated the presence of the Deputy Governor and reaffirmed the church’s commitment to promoting Christian values and family development.

Speaking at the event, the Director General of the Abia State Strategic Communications Bureau, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, thanked Governor Alex Otti for identifying with the Diocese through the presence of his Deputy at the Fathers’ Day celebration.

He urged fathers to continue to lead their families with love, discipline and integrity while remaining steadfast in their responsibilities as role models to the younger generation.
