The State Head of Service, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has extended appreciation to public servants across the state for their dedication, resilience, and unwavering service as Nigeria marks Workers’ Day.
In a goodwill message, Mr. Ojeikere acknowledged the critical role of civil servants, noting that their commitment—often demonstrated under demanding conditions, long working hours, and significant pressure—remains the backbone of the state’s civil service.
He described public servants as the “strength of Abia State” and commended their continued efforts in sustaining governance and service delivery.
Addressing concerns surrounding ongoing reforms, the Head of Service assured workers that their welfare remains a top priority. He emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting transparency and open communication, entrenching merit-based systems, protecting workers’ entitlements, and expanding opportunities for training and professional development.
He further assured them that the present administration is committed to inclusive decision-making processes that reflect the interests of all stakeholders within the civil service.
While reaffirming the government’s support for the state civil service, he urged public servants to uphold the trust placed in them by delivering services efficiently and promptly, and by maintaining integrity, accountability, and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The Head of Service also highlighted plans to strengthen recognition systems through merit-based promotions, awards, training initiatives, and improved incentive structures aimed at boosting morale and productivity.
Mr. Ojeikere called on workers to renew their collective commitment to excellence, integrity, and service, expressing optimism that, together, a more efficient and people-oriented civil service will be built.
