Ovuokwu Youth Assembly,(OYA), in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State have been called upon to make the March 9, Governorship and State House of Assembly elections their priority to ensure the mandate of reelecting Governor Ikpeazu and Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu is achieved.
The Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, who made the call in an endorsement rally organized by the OYA, in his honor at Umuawa Ovuokwu, Ward 9, in Isiala Ngwa South State constituency, described the reelection of Governor Ikpeazu as a battle for equity and fairness for the survival of the Ukwa/Ngwa aborigines which according to him must be fought to the letter.
He expressed dissatisfaction over the turnout of abians in the just concluded Presidential and National Assembly elections and enjoined the youths and women not to yield to any form of deception of voting any other party except PDP.
The Speaker and the member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency, therefore, thanked the youths of Ovuokwu for endorsing him as their candidate pointing out that they have proven that they are capable to take responsibilities while assuring them that he would do the needful.
Contributing, the Transition Committee Chairman of Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Council, and the immediate past Commissioner for Youth Development, Comrade Ike Anyatonwu, expressed gratitude for the endorsement of Hon. Chikwendu Kalu, and urged the people to troop out en masse to vote Governor Ikpeazu and Hon. Kalu for continuity.
Also Speaking, the Executive Secretary of Abia State Community and Social Development Projects, CSDP, and a native of the area, Dr. Chinatu Njoku, and the Ward 9, Youth Leader, Joel Nnaonwu, concurred with the youths and noted that it was the resolve of Ovuokwu elders to support the Speaker as their own adding that his good works speak for him.
Earlier, the President, Ovuokwu Youth Assembly, Comrade Ebere Davidson, had said the reason for adopting the member representing Isiala Ngwa South State Constituency as their choiced candidate was as a result of his good works and quality representation adding that they had resolved to massively vote for him and Governor Okezie Ikpeazu come March 9th Governorship and State House of Assembly polls.
Comrade Davidson, however, appealed to the Speaker to remember Ovuokwu youths who had showed commitment and loyalty in the PDP for a period of time and as well carry them along in his empowerment programmes among other requests made by the youths.
Meanwhile the immediate past Councilor of Ovuokwu, ward 9, in the Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Council, Jude Nwakwuo, moved a motion for the endorsement of the Speaker as their preferred candidate while Samson Erondu, and Barr. Obinna Nwaogwugwu, pledged their support.
