The National President of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE) who also doubles as the National Chairman, Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC), Comrade Benjamin Anthony has applauded the achievements of Abia State Sports Council under the leadership of Comrade Obioma George.
Comrade Anthony who hail from Kaduna state made a brief stop over at the Headquarters Offices of Abia State Sports Council on his way from Sam Mbakwe Airport en route Nkpa, Bende Local Government Area for the burial of the mother of Comrade Emma Ugbaja, the General Secretary of Nigeria Labour Congress, was full of praises to the Hon commissioner for sports sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba and the Governor of Abia State – Dr. Alex Chioma Otti OFR for their interest in grassroots Sports Development which was demonstrated by the organization of School Sports Competition widely acknowledged as one of the best in the Country in recent times and the sponsorships of many other sports programs which has started yielding benefits to the youths of Abia State.
Comrade Benjamin also thanked the Governor for gradually bringing in modern Sports equipment into Abia State and giving a facelift to the existing facilities which according to him will attract National Competitions to Abia State and assist our youths develop their sports skills for greater tomorrow. He urged the Hon commissioner for sports Sir Nwaobilor Nwadinma Ananaba and the state Director of Sports to consolidate on the gains they have made within their short stay in office while assuring AUPCTRE members that the National body is working tirelessly for special conditions of service for Sports Councils and Commissions because of the perculiar nature of their jobs.
He further thanked the director of Sports for the state Aupctre official input in the search of the course/s of the Nigeria Olympic team failure to pick a medal in the just concluded Paris Olympics and the way forward.
Earlier in his welcome speech, the Director of Sports Comrade Obioma George thanked the National President for finding time to branch in and see his members in the Sports Council Branch despite his tight schedule. He thanked the President for courageously steering the ship of AUPCTRE effectively and his success at the just concluded minimum wage negotiations. He prayed God to continue to inspire the President to lead the Union aright.
In her vote of thanks, the Abia State Chairperson AUPCTRE Comrade Chibuzor Basil thanked the National President and his entourage for sparing time to visit the Sports Council and prayed God to protect them throughout their stay in Abia State.
Highlight of the visit was presentation of gift to the National President by the Director of Sports.
Present at the Visit were Management Staff of the Council while the President’s entourage were; Imo State Secretary of AUPCTRE, South East Zonal Committee of AUPCTRE, Abia State Chairperson of AUPCTRE Mrs Chibuzo Basil and the State Secretary Rev Ekere Uwadi
