Stakeholders in Rivers State have purchased nomination forms for Governor Siminalayi Fubara, urging him to seek re-election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Mr Abiante said the move reflects the collective will of the people, expressed through their leaders.
“We are speaking on behalf of the people. We have come on their behalf,” he said.
He added that contributors from across the state expect the governor to accept the call, noting that the gesture demonstrates strong grassroots backing.
“The people have contributed their resources to make this happen. He cannot turn his back on them. Rivers people are firmly behind him,” Abiante stated.
The forms are scheduled to be formally presented to Governor Fubara on Friday, May 1, a development seen as an early signal of political alignments ahead of the 2027 governorship race in the state.
Governor Fubara had defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in December 2025, citing the need to fully support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
