Abia Panel Invites Memoranda Over Alleged Misconduct In ABSU

Abia State Government has called for the submission of memoranda from members of the public following the inauguration of a Special Investigations Committee to probe allegations of unethical practices and misconduct in Abia State University.

In a statement issued by the Committee Secretary, Mr Dodoh Okafor, the panel invited individuals, groups and communities, including university staff, students, alumni, parents and other stakeholders, to submit memoranda relating to the allegations under investigation.

Recall the committee was constituted by the state government to examine recent reports of unethical practices and misconduct in Abia State University (ABSU) by some staff of the institution.

According to the statement, memoranda should address the committee’s terms of reference, which include investigating allegations of extortion and harassment involving lecturers and non-teaching staff, as well as identifying institutional lapses and procedural gaps that may have enabled such practices.

The committee is also expected to probe allegations of results manipulation through both electronic and manual means, admissions irregularities particularly in professional courses and alleged cases of forgery, promotion irregularities and favouritism in staff appointments.

It directed that all memoranda must be typewritten, double-line spaced and prepared in Times New Roman font size 12.

The submissions are to be sealed and addressed to the Committee Chairman through the Secretary at the Committee’s Secretariat, Room 18, Political Block, Government House, Umuahia.

The committee fixed 4pm on Friday, May 22, 2026, as the deadline for submissions disclosing that memoranda could be submitted electronically as PDF attachments through the dedicated email address, absuinvestigations2026@gmail.com.
