Abia Govt To Partner CAN To Ensure Clean, Healthy Environment

The state government has partnered with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in ensuring clean and healthy environment in the state.

Commissioner for information and culture Prince Okey kanu who disclosed this when he received the executive members of CAN Abia State Chapter in his office informed them that a new government was in place in the state now and would want to work with CAN in ensuring clean and healthy environment in Abia State.

Prince Kanu made it known that Governor Alex Otti declared State of emergency on waste disposal immediately he assumed office pointing out that his move has yielded a positive result.

The information Boss further revealed that keeping the environment clean helps to avert any form of epidemic hence the need for all Abians and stakeholders to participate actively in the monthly clean up.

In his speech,the state chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria,Abia State Chapter senior Apostle Emmanuel Agomuo congratulated Prince Kanu on his appointment as the commissioner for information also noted that they are happy with the work done so far in the state especially in the area of waste disposal.

He assured that their members will take the message to their various churches as well as work with the government to keep the environment clean since cleanliness is nearest to Godliness.

Contributing the state secretary of CAN pastor Mgbeahuru Okechukwu said, CAN which is the umbrella of Christian denominations is made up of five blocks and assured that they will help to ensure that people internalized environmental and personal hygiene.
