Rivers State Governor, Nwesom Wike, Monday, joined his Abia State Counterpart, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu to commission the First Ever Osisioma Flyover constructed by the present adminstration.
Also commissioned by the River state Governor was the Aba Owerri Road, Aba, constructed and completed by the Ikpeazu led government.
Speaking while commissioning the project, Governor Wike lauded Governor Okezie Ikpeazu for embarking on developmental projects across the state despite the lean resources accruable to Abia adding that he has shown capacity by changing the narratives in infrastructure development.
He said: “I commend you for executing legacy projects, this is a testament of your commitment to boosting socioeconomic development in Abia.
“It doesn’t matter how many months are left before your tenure will elapse,i want to urge you to continue to work for the people of Abia till your last day in office”.
Governor Wike noted that Governor Ikpeazu has through many landmark projects justified his mandate pointing out that his achievements in Abia will pave the way for all PDP candidates in the forthcoming general elections to emerge victorious in all positions.
Describing the Abia State Governor as a dependable friend and ally, Governor Wike said that he is proud to be associated with him pointing out that history will be kind to the Governor.
He advised Governor Ikpeazu not to be distracted by the antics of enemies of good governance, but focus on his developmental agenda for the state.
Speaking earlier, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said that the Osisioma Interchange was borne out of his desire to promote trade and commerce as well as movement of goods and services in and around Aba.
Governor Ikpeazu stated that the essence of governance is to serve the people by changing the narrative and making life better for the people.
He said that the choice of Gov Nyesom Wike to commission the project was to accord him the righful position as the father of modern infrastructures assuring that the Osisioma flyover will beget other projects.
The Commissioner for Works, Elder Bob Ogu, whike giving an overview of the project expressed happiness that the Osisioma flyover conceptualized by the Ikpeazu adminstration in 2017 has finally become a reality, adding that more people oriented projects will be realized before the end of present government.
In his remarks earlier, the Chairman Osisioma Ngwa LGA, Chief Christian Kamalu expressed gratitude to the Governor for embarking on infrastructural development projects across the state, said the people are happy and will continue to remain steadfast in the PDP.
