RC Umuahia plant trees in Abia Schools to protect the environment.

In its efforts to protect the environment, Rotary Club of Umuahia has planted 30 trees in Ndume Otuka Secondary School and Federal Government Girls College both in Umuahia, Abia State.

 

Speaking during the tree planting at Ndume Otuka Secondary School, Umuahia North LGA, the Club President, Rotarian Temitope Nnaomah, said that the Club carried out a need assessment to observe that only one tree exist in the whole school compound, before embarking on the project.

She said that the Club believe in environmental protection, and by planting trees, it would help to protect the environment.

Also planting trees in the premises of Federal Government Girls College in Umuahia South LGA, Rtn. Nnaomah, enjoined the School management to protect the trees planted and nurture it to grow big.

She also enjoined the teachers and students to spread the good message of the environmental protection by planting trees and not deforestation.

Responding, Mrs Ibegbulam Betty Ifeyinwa, the Principal of Ndume Otuka Junior Secondary , Ahiaeke Ndume Ibeku In Umuahia North LGA, who appreciated the good deeds of Rotary Club, disclosed that the school earnestly need trees because of flood which is ravaging the school environment.

Also responding, Mrs Idika Kalu Ngozi, College Director Principal, Federal Government Girls College, Umuahia, assured that trees planted in the school environment will be protected.
