Gov Otti Scores Major Point In Fight Against Criminality As Security Bust Notorious Drug Baron, In Umuahia

 

Abia State Government in collaboration with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, Valentine’s Day in Umuahia arrested a notorious drug baron, Adaobi Nweke.

 

The arrest was under the Joint Team by the Office of the Abia State Governor on Homeland Security and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency,(NDLEA),

 

Miss Adaobi Nweke, identified as the daughter of the late notorious criminal Joekin Jaguar, was arrested alongside five persons including two males and three females, significant quantities of prohibited drugs including heroin, cannabis sativa, and methamphetamine, commonly known as Mkpurummiri, in addition to a cash sum exceeding 500 thousand naira were recovered during the raid.

 

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Homeland Security, Mr Chukwunenye Alajemba, disclosed this while briefing Journalists at Government House,Umuahia in company of the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu and state Commander, NDLEA, Amos Adelanwa.

 

Alajemba further revealed that the Joint operation by the team during the raid, on the premises of Miss Nweke at No 23 Arochukwu Street by Calabar road in Umuahia, also uncovered and confiscated drugs, including; “321 sachets of dry weed weighing 500 grams, 214 sachets of Laud,weighing 400 grams.

“Cocaine;570, pinches, weighing 150.5 grams, Heroine; 310 pinches weighing 37.8 grams and Metaphitamine ice, 129.1 gram.

 

“All together we have about 1. 217 kilograms. Five people were arrested in connection with this; two males and there females. The drug Lord, Miss Adaobi is actually said to be a lawyer. Her activities have spanned nearly two decades in Umuahia.

 

“Today, Umuahia is going to heave a good sigh of relief because this woman has ravaged our sons and daughters. People are dying from drug”.

 

He said that the raid also extended to Linkway Hotels, in a location known as “Down Below,”  behind Okigwe Park, which also resulted in multiple arrests and further seizures of illegal drugs which its exact amount was yet to be determined.

 

The Governor’s Aide emphasized the state government’s stance against drug-related crimes and associated criminal activities and added that the latest crackdown underscores the commitment of the present adminstration to combat all forms of criminality within the state.

As we speak, our agents are still carrying out necessary measures to disrupt these illegal drugs.

“If you’ll agree with me, the use of illegal drugs is one of the most, if not the root cause of kidnapping and other violent crimes in Nigeria and of course, here in Abia State”.

 

Alajemba, stressed that Abia State will not tolerate criminal elements and warned all criminals to cease their activities in the state or face the dire consequences.

 

Abia State is not a safe haven for any criminal. No drug Lord is allowed to exist here in Abia State. This is the command of the Governor and this is the command that we must all take”, the Governor’s Aide emphasized.

 

He urged parents to caution their children and wards as they are not allowed to do drugs noting that the state government would stop at nothing in ensuring the safety and security of residents of the state.

In his remarks, the Deputy Governor, Engr Ikechukwu Emetu, thanked the Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Homeland Security and the NDLEA for the successful operation and emphasized government’s commitment to ridding the state from all forms of criminal. activities which he said has recorded tremendous success in Lokpanta, Umunneochi LGA.

“Abia is not a safe haven for any criminal. To all drug kingpins, the directives from the Governor of Abia State is very clear, stay away from Abia State, we don’t need you.

 

“You are not part of the development of the State. Drugs cannot develop Abia State. We want our youths to be safe and very useful to the Government of Abia State“,he said.

 

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Mr Ferdinand Ekeoma was present during the briefing.
