Gov Otti Inaugurates State Commissions, Swears In Key Advisers

 

Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti has inaugurated the Civil Service Commission, Abia State Commission for the Welfare of the Disabled Persons and Abia State House of Assembly Commission.

 

Governor Otti also swore in the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Kenechukwu Nwosu and the Special Adviser on Investment Promotion, Dr Green Amankwe.

Speaking at the event held at the Banquet Hall, Government House, Umuahia, the Governor, noted that the administration’s mission to rebuild and restore Abia necessitates the recruitment of individuals with the requisite skills, competences, and experiences.

 

He urged the appointees to adopt the principle of fairness in their engagements and to resist parochialism.

“It is safe to say that we have remained fair in the allocation of resources to all parts of the State. We expect the appointees to also adopt the principle of fairness in all their engagements with Ndi Abia.

“You must resist the temptation to be parochial or provincial in the execution of the functions of our respective offices.

 

You may have come from one community but as an official of the Abia State Government, your constituency is the whole of Abia“, he affirmed.

Governor Otti who encouraged the new appointees to focus on achieving remarkable institutional improvements, reminded them of the high expectations of the people, stressing that their roles are primarily a call to service.

 

He issued a stern warning against corruption, and cautioned that any engagement in self aggrandizement would result in immediate dismissal and possible legal action.

This Administration has zero tolerance for corruption and the fastest way to get yourself out of the team is to engage in dishonest practices.

 

“For clarity, let the warning be given in advance that once we establish any case of self-serving activities that go against the values we subscribe to as a Government, we shall be left with no option but to ask you to leave.

And perhaps hand you over to the law enforcement agencies for further investigations”, Gov Otti warned.

He however expressed confidence in their ability to succeed and promised to be available for support and guidance.

 

In their separate responses, a member of the Civil Service Commission, Mrs Ifeoma Agu and Mr Nwosu thanked the government for the opportunity to serve the people of Abia.

They pledged to discharge of their duty and align with the rebuilding agenda of the present administration.

The Members of the Civil Service Commission include Mrs Patience Orikara, Mr Chinemerem Orji, and Mr Chibuike Alozie.

 

Members of Abia State Commission for the Welfare of Disabled Persons include Mr David Anyaele(Chairman), Mr Stanley Onyebuchi, Mr Emenike Amakwe, Mrs Chinenye Ogboso and Mrs Ijeoma Harriet.

The Members of Abia House of Assembly Service Commission include Mr Uchechukwu Maduako, Mr Destiny Nwagwu, Mr Chiemela Wagbala, Mr Chijioke Nwachukwu, Mr Grace Ibeh, Dr Steve Ochonma and Mrs Ihuoma Ezechimerem.
