The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has said that President Muhammadu Buhari led government has exhibited actions worse than what was obtained during the military rule.
Speaking during the presentation of flag to PDP flag bearers held at International Conference Centre ,Umuahia, the Abia state chairman of the party, Chief Johnson Onuigbo decried the appointment of Hajia Amina Zakari, as INEC Commissioner alleged to be the President’s cousin and the sealing up of the Daily Trust Newspapers Headquarters, Abuja.
Chief Onuigbo regretted that the present National ruling party are yet to imbibe the tenet of democracy by exhibiting actions that are inimical to the development of democracy.
He urged the President to relieve Hajia Zakari of the appointment as it does not give confidence of a level playing ground by the electoral umpire.
The party state chairman further stated that the military invasion of the media house gave an impression of muzzling of the press which does not give room for freedom of expression in a democratic dispensation.
Chief Onuigbo further berated the President for with holding his assent to the electoral bill and urged him to sign the bill as it would guarantee a free, fair and credible polls.
On the presentation of flag to PDP candidates in next month’s election, he said that the exercise was to bolster their conference and a confirmation that they are now actually the party flag bearers after surviving the rigours of the primaries.
Chief Onuigbo charged those presented with flag to go into serious campaign in their constituencies and sell their candidatures and secured victory for the party in the forthcoming polls.
Also speaking, the General Manager, Abia State Environmental and Protection Agency.( ASEPA), Hon. Okechukwu Apugo promised that the PDP was going to record a landslide victory in all the elective positions come next general elections.
He commended the governor Okezie Ikpeazu led PDP government in the state for the giant developmental strides going on in all the three senatorial districts of the state and called on Abians to come out on masse to return the governor and other PDP candidates in the general elections to continue to move the state to the next level of development.
