Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Obingwa Local Government Area have expressed satisfaction over the hitch free conduct of the party’s primaries which saw to the emergence of Mr. Michael Nwoke as consensus candidate.
The emergence of Mr. Nwoko as the party’s flag bearer for the December 18th Chairmanship election followed the withdrawal of 12 other aspirants who in a rare show of brotherhood, peace and unity unanimously adopted him as their candidate.
National Ambassador observed that prior to the Primary election,the venue was calm as major stakeholders gathered to ensure that the conduct was peaceful as against the violence which characterized other local government areas.
Some of the delegates, including Enyinnaya Apollos, Eziuche Ubani, Solomon Akpulonu, Theophilus Nkoro Hanson Amaechi and Ogbu Ikpeaba, while commending the peaceful disposition exhibited by the people, said the process saved a lot of problems including allegations of favoritism, rigging and imposition of candidates among others.
The stakeholders frowned at reports of violence associated with the primary elections in some LGAs, and advised party members to embrace the principles of internal democracy as exhibited by the Obingwa people instead of resorting to strife.
They called on the candidates that emerged to carry everybody along and work together to ensure the party emerges victorious in the forthcoming elections.
Also speaking, the PDP consensus Candidate for Obingwa Local Government Area, Michael Nwoke, appreciated the party delegates and other aspirants for their support and assured that he will carry everyone can along to ensure the party emerges victorious in the forthcoming election.
He expressed willingness to work with the Governor as well as other stakeholders to develop the Local Government Area.
