The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, has been crowned the new Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. He will now be known by the traditional title, Daufa VI.
His appointment followed the provisions of the Ayakoro Community Constitution and came six months after the passing of the former Paramount Ruler. Before now, Dr. Ogbuku served as the Deputy Paramount Ruler of the community.
The installation process was overseen by the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs. At the same ceremony, Chief Micha Itekesi was installed as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler.
Speaking after the event, Dr. Ogbuku said the honour was more than a title or public position. He described it as a sign of the community’s appreciation for his years of service and commitment to the people.
He promised to lead with humility, dedication, and honesty, noting that the trust placed in him by the people shows that hard work, sacrifice, and service to the community are always recognized and rewarded.
Dr. Ogbuku expressed confidence that his leadership would promote peace, unity, respect, and development in Ayakoro Community.
He said, “May God give us wisdom, patience, courage, and understanding. We pray that our reign will bring peace, unity, dignity, and greater progress to Ayakoro Community.”
He also thanked the people for their support and pledged to work closely with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous, and united community for future generations.
