The Sole Administrator, Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission ASOPADEC, the RT. Hon. Emeka Stanley has said that the tourism sector remains an untapped gold mine capable of attracting both local and foreign investors into the country.
He therefore maintained that Nigeria is richly blessed with abundant and beautiful tourist sites that when properly harnessed is capable of boosting the nation’s Internally Generated Revenue, IGR.
Speaking when he played host to the General Manager, Abia State Tourism Board, Queen Onyekachi Atuloma and the 2022 World Tourism Day Celebration Steering Committee in his office in Umuahia, Stanley reiterated that the country has all it takes to turn around her fortunes for the better.
According to him, most developed and developing countries generate 80-90 percent of their internally generated revenue from tourism.
The former Deputy Speaker of Abia State House of Assembly further commended Queen Atuloma for her laudable innovative ideas and initiatives geared towards redefining the Tourism industry in Abia State and pledged his full support and that of the commission towards the success of the forthcoming World Tourism Day Celebration In the state.
Earlier in her address, the General Manager, Abia State Tourism Board, Queen Onyekachi Atuloma said she came in company of the committee members to intimate him as well as solicit his support in hosting the 2022 World Tourism Day Celebration in Abia State slated to hold on the 25th – 27th of September, 2022 in Umuahia.
In a vote of thanks, the Chairman of the 2022 World Tourism Day Celebration Steering Committee in the state, Mr Dimgba Ejieke while describing the Sole Administrator of ASOPADEC, the Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley as an embodiment of wisdom also appreciated him for the warm reception accorded them.
Highpoint of the visit is the endorsement of this years World Tourism Day Celebration in the state by the Sole administrator.
