Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has expressed sadness over the death of Professor Gregory Ikechukwu Ibe, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) governorship candidate in the 2023 election.
Otti described Ibe’s death as a painful loss, noting his contributions to education and research in Nigeria, particularly in Abia State.
The governor, in a condolence message dated October 19, 2026, issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma, said he had hoped and prayed that the late professor would recover from the illness he battled for some time.
He, however, acknowledged the inevitability of death, saying that the family, friends and associates of the deceased should take solace in the impactful life he lived.
Otti urged them to honour Ibe’s memory by upholding his values and sustaining his legacies.
On behalf of his family, the Abia State Government and the people of the state, the governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed that God grants the deceased eternal rest.
