A Port Harcourt-based businessman, Engr. Kalu Nto, has donated a Toyota Sienna vehicle and N5 million to the Abia State Labour Party Campaign Council to support Governor Alex Otti’s re-election campaign.
Nto made the donation on Tuesday, October 20, 2026. He said his decision was based on the work the governor was doing, especially in road construction and other development projects across Abia State.

He mentioned the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road in Aba by Julius Berger as one of the major projects that encouraged him to support Otti’s second-term ambition.
According to Nto, the road had been neglected for many years before the present administration began its reconstruction. He said the project would help improve road conditions and make business activities easier in Aba.

He also described Julius Berger’s return to Abia State after more than 20 years as an important development. He said the road project had increased his confidence in the governor’s leadership.
Nto expressed hope that more Abians, both within Nigeria and abroad, would support the governor because of the development projects taking place across the state.
He also called on the people to support continuity in government, saying Otti should be allowed to complete his two terms before others seek to take over from him.
Receiving the donations on behalf of the campaign council, its Director-General, Rt. Hon. Agwu U. Agwu, thanked Nto for his support.
Agwu promised that the vehicle and money would be used properly to support the council’s activities. He also encouraged other individuals and groups who believe in the governor’s development plans to support the campaign.
The council’s Director of Publicity, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, was present when the donations were received.
Apart from the reconstruction of Port Harcourt Road in Aba, the Otti administration is carrying out other projects to improve infrastructure and educational facilities across the state.
Some of the projects include two student hostels, each designed to accommodate 5,000 students. The hostels have separate blocks for male and female students and are still under construction.
The state government is also building a modern Smart Staff School and a Faculty of Law Complex. Both projects are reportedly close to completion.
Other projects include a multipurpose cafeteria, the repair of internal roads and the construction of a modern multipurpose pavilion.
When completed, the projects are expected to provide better accommodation for students, improve learning conditions and make the affected institutions more comfortable for staff and students.
Nto’s donation comes as political activities ahead of the next Abia governorship election begin to increase. His contribution is an early sign of support for Otti’s bid to return for a second term.

The donation also shows how some businesspeople and other individuals are choosing to support political leaders whose work they believe is making a difference in their communities.
As preparations for the election continue, the campaign council is hoping to receive more support from people who believe in the governor’s development plans.
