The body of late Princess Evelyn Nwoahuruele John Nduwuisi (née Amadi) have been laid to rest in her husband’s compound in Obohia-Ndoki, Ukwa East Local Government Area of Abia State. She passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on December 16, 2024.
A funeral service was held in her honour at St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Obohia-Ndoki, where the officiating minister, Venerable Davies Ogbonna, delivered a heartfelt sermon titled “Blessedness of a Life Well-Spent.” In his message, he described the late matriarch as a virtuous and selfless woman who lived with humanity at the core of her being.
Venerable Ogbonna urged Christian faithful to emulate her exemplary life, highlighting her legacy of integrity, peace, love, and generosity. He also encouraged the family to uphold these values, praying that God grants them the strength to bear the loss and grants her soul eternal rest.
Speaking at the funeral service, the Eze-elect of Obohia-Ndoki, Chief Ugochukwu John Nduwuisi, popularly known as “Ugo Spain,” described his late mother as a woman of great sacrifice and deep faith.
He recalled her enduring pain and unwavering dedication to raising her children with love, care, and godly principles.
“I am reminded of the countless sacrifices you made for me to be where I am today. Your love, care, and guidance have moulded me into the person I am, and I remain forever grateful,” he said.
Chief Ugochukwu reaffirmed his commitment to preserving his mother’s legacy, especially her passion for uplifting the less privileged and promoting Christian values.
Princess Evelyn Nduwuisi’s life was a testament to grace, resilience, and service—a beacon of light that will continue to shine through the lives she touched.
Obohia-Ndoki witnessed a remarkable gathering of distinguished personalities as key stakeholders, traditional leaders, public officials, business executives, and community groups converged for a landmark occasion.
In attendance was His Royal Majesty, Eze Apostle Chibuzor Chinnyere, General Overseer of OPM Worldwide, who led a host of eminent guests including Rt. Hon. Emeka Stanley, JP; Dr. and Mrs. Godwin Umontuen, Chairman of the Maurid Group; and Chief Chimezie Otuka, CEO of Tusky Energy.
Also present was Chief Hon. Eruba Dimgba, Ph.D, representing Abia State on the Federal Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC); Hon. Chibunna Akara, Mayor of Ukwa-East Local Government Area; and Rt. Hon. Lewis Obianyi, Member representing Ukwa-East State Constituency.
The legislative arm was further represented by Chief William Nwanguma, Legislative Aide to Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, CON, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Rt. Hon. Chris Nkwonta was ably represented by Elder George Ariola.
Notable business leaders in attendance included Chief Adiele Ekeke, CEO of ADIC Designers; and Deacon Temple C. Iheanacho, Chairman of the Obohia Stakeholders Forum. Other distinguished personalities included Chief Nnanna Emuchay, Chief Ossy Nwamuo, and Comrade Vincent Aluu, Registrar of the College of Nursing Sciences, Obohia. Legal circles were represented by His Lordship Solomon Olewengwa, Esq.
The event drew participation from prominent families such as the Chukwuntas, Ebisikes, and Nwagwumas, alongside numerous community groups. These included the Madrid Unity Club and Executives, Port Harcourt Friends and Neighbours, Obohia Council of Village Heads, Destiny Women, Bomber – Rainbow and Umuoma Age Grades, Eziuche Women of Obohia-Ndoki, Amuru n’ala-luo n’ala Women of Obohia, and Umuenyere Ikwu Ndoki.
Among the distinguished women present were Princess Njideka Ndiwe of the Onitsha Royal Kingdom and Mrs. Uche Grace Nwankwo, Deputy Mayor of Ukwa-East LGA and Provost of the College of Nursing Sciences, Obohia.
The event served as a symbol of unity and community development, with many more notable guests and dignitaries in attendance, some of whom were not individually mentioned.
