Nigerian Players Score Card

Nigerian players were in action across Europe this weekend, in England Alex Iwobi played for 51 minutes but could not deliver Everton from the wrath of Aston Villa, who defeated them by 4-0.

Calvin Bassey replaced Reed in the 67th minute but could not save Fulham from falling to Brentford 0-3.

Taiwo Awoniyi made it two goals in two matches as he opened scoring in Nottingham Forest’s 2-1 victory over Sheffield United.

In the Italian Serie A, Victor Osimhen continued from where he stopped last season as he scored two goals for Napoli which helped the defending champions defeat Frosinone 1-3.

In the German Bundesliga, Victor Boniface had an excellent performance as he helped Bayer Leverkusen defeat RB Leipzig 3-2 at the BayArena, Boniface provided an assist as Jeremie Frimpong opened scoring in the 24th minute.

The Nigerian was given a yellow card in the 69th minute and was substituted in the 89th minute.

In France, Lyon were disgraced at home 1-4 by Montpellier and Akor Adams was very instrumental scoring the fourth goal with a minute to go.

In Portugal, Kelechi Nwakali provided an assist as his club Chaves lost 2-4 to Sporting Braga.

Boavista hammered Portimonense 1-4 with Sopuruchukwu Onyemaechi assisting in the second goal.

In Scotland, Leon Balogun and Cyriel Dessers were in action for Rangers in the League Cup as they secured a 2-1 victory over Greenock Morton. Dessers equalized from the spot before he provided the assist for the winning goal and was later substituted 10 minutes from time.
