The wife of Abia state Governor, Mrs. Priscilla Otti, says that she was deeply saddened at yet another discovery of baby factory in Aba, Abia state.
The Governor’s wife noted that on the month when the world is celebrating the remarkable achievements of the women folks, it is disheartening to learn about unscrupulous elements who goes about exploiting young girls for financial benefits thereby destroying their future.
“We love our women, we want them to thrive, we want them to reach their potentials, therefore we totally condemned this act, it is against any societal moral compass and most importantly it is illegal”
“We vehemently condemned the appalling existence of baby factories in Abia state where young girls were raped, forced into pregnancy and have their babies forcefully taken away from them for profits”
Mrs. Otti expressed that this practice endangers our young girls exposing them to sexually transmitted diseases.
According to her, ” this individuals exploit the poor economic vulnerabilities of our young girls and poor education to lure them into the nefarious act” she said.
Recognising the challenge, the Governor’s wife has committed to training young girls in skills acquisition and empowering them to start their own businesses.
She also revealed that the victims of the baby factory will be taken care of until they deliver their babies but sound a note of warning to those engaged in the act to desist, live the state or wait for the full weight of the law.
