Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, has lauded the family of Chief Johnson Chukwu for his community development efforts and selfless service to his Ugwueke people.
Governor Otti, made the commendation during the IBO UZO Festival of Chinyereugo Age Grade, the Age Grade of Chief Mrs. Nneoma Johnson Chukwu, wife of Chief Chukwu
Commissioning the Isieke Civic centre built and equipped by Chief and Chief Mrs. Chukwu, the Governor who was represented by his deputy, Engr. Ikechukwu Emetu, also lauded Chief Mrs Chukwu for putting smiles on the faces of the women in the area.
Dr. Otti further commended Chief Chukwu for his support to his wife in achieving her pet project and enjoined prominent people in various communities across the state to embark on developmental projects to assist the present government achieve its desired overall development in the state.
He assured the people of Ugwueke in Bende Local Government Area of his administration’s commitment to peaceful resolution of all boundary issues facing the State.
He described the IBO UZO FESTIVAL as a rich cultural heritage of the Isieke people which will not only bolster the economy and development of the area but will go a long way in attracting more tourists both local and international to participate in the festival, hence, boosting the cultural tourism sector of the State.
The Governor further observed that the boundary issues facing the state are connected to the strategic location of the State; bordered by seven states, four in the South-East and three in the South-South of the country.
The 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party, Mr. Peter Obi, in his speech, charged people in positions of authority to see leadership as a divine call to serve and appreciated Chief and Chief Mrs. Johnson Chukwu for their numerous achievements, even as he tasked them not to relent in providing basic amenities to their communities.
Mr. Obi stressed the need for leaders to shun corruption in order to achieve a prosperous Nation for the good of all citizens.
Also speaking respectively, the Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, represented by his Special Assistant on Special Duties, Hon. Emeka Igwe; Former Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Uche Ogah; Member Representing Isialangwa North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Ginger Onwusibe and the Mayor, Bende LGA, Barr. Chijioke Nwankwo appreciated the humanitarian gestures of Chief Johnson Chukwu and his wife and implored them to continue their good works.
Presenting his address earlier, the President General of Ugwueke Development Union, Mr. Igwe Elekwa congratulated Governor Alex Otti on his landmark achievements and outstanding performances in the short period of his administration so far.
