Abia Government to Strengthen Partnership with Security Agencies

The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to partnering with organizations that will contribute to its vision of securing the lives and property of its citizens and residents.

The Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, disclosed this during a courtesy visit by the new Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Command, Corps Commander Ngozi Ezeoma, and her management team. He assured the FRSC of the state government’s full support, especially during the upcoming Ember months, for the corps’ effective operations.

Prof. Kalu described the FRSC as a critical stakeholder in the mission of the current administration. He noted that Governor Dr. Alex Otti has embarked on massive road construction and rehabilitation projects to ensure the safety of all road users in the state.

He encouraged the FRSC to intensify efforts and work in synergy with the Abia State Orientation Agency to achieve optimal results.

Congratulating the new sector commander on her appointment, Prof. Kalu expressed confidence that her wealth of experience would be instrumental in reducing road crashes to the barest minimum.

In her remarks, the Sector Commander, Corps Commander Ngozi Ezeoma, explained that the visit was not only for familiarization but also to brief the government on their programs and activities. She stated that the corps, tasked with ensuring road safety, is currently undertaking sensitization and awareness programs.

Ezeoma also appealed to the state government for the provision of operational vehicles and the inclusion of FRSC members in the state’s plans and programs.
