100 Days in Office: Gov Eno Has Done Beyond Expectation – Cleric

A senior priest of the African church, Akwa Ibom State, Rev’d Richard Peters said Governor Umo Eno of the state has performed beyond their expectations within his 100 days in office.

Speaking while assessing the achievements of the governor within his first 100 days in office, the Cleric who is also the chairman of ARISE Ambassadors, a group that helps to interprete the governor’s blueprint at the grassroots in Akwa Ibom said the governor has been able to embark on various life touching activities within the period.

Adding that the governor has started executing some of his campaign promises contained in his blueprint tagged ARISE agenda coined from Agricultural revolution, Rural Development, Infrastructural advancement, Security and Economic advancement

On Agriculture, he said the governor within his first 100 days brought in Bank of Industry (BOI) to the state where farmers can access soft loans, signed a Memorandum of understanding (MOU) with a Benin Republic-based Agriculture firm, Songhai Farm for a modern farming model and revamped the Green House Technology in the state.

Under Rural development, he said the governor’s initiative in appointing Personal Assistants in all the wards would boost his rural development thrust and the bill initiated by the governor to compel local government chairmen to live in the locality would engender rural development adding that some rural roads have been constructed.

On Infrastructural management and advancement, Peters listed the remodelling of cottage hospital in Ikot Ekpene Udo, Construction of a model Healthcare centre in Ibesikpo Asutan and Urue Offong-Oruko Local Government Areas respectively to ensure quality healthcare delivery to the people, remodelling of Akpan Andem market (commissioned on Wednesday), ongoing construction of Eket international market, construction of Ndiya Street with drainage and Solar-powered street lights and other facilities, Construction of 1.1km Spring Road in Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area to open up access to Goretti Secondary School, with 0.875 outfall drain.

Others include: Intervention in the Erosion menaced Atiku Abubakar Way, Uyo by approving an immediate distillation of the water log in the area and evacuation. Mobilization of all the contractors involved in Road construction in both the rural and urban areas of the State during the previous administration back to site.

Under Security managements, the Chairman said the governor proactively created the Ministry of Internal Security in the State to ensure adequate protection of lives and property as well as intervening in lingering boundary crises.

Under Educational advancement, he said the governor within this period embarked on the construction of model Primary Schools across the State starting with Christ the King Primary School along Wellington Bassey Way, Uyo, to be completed with state-of-the-art facilities, same to be extended to the 10 Federal constituencies within the State.

He said the governor set up N100 Million intervention funds within his first 100 days in office to encourage students with disabilities to continue with their education unhindered and donated school uniforms and exercise books to pupils. Approved the disbursement of bursary to indigenous students across the state and the release of over 5 Billion Naira for the payment of Gratuities and Leave Grants to Retired Primary School Teachers and Retired Local Government workers across the State in just 100 days in office.
