Obi Advocates Prayers For Government Officials

 

The Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate for the 2023 election, Mr. Peter Obi, has emphasized the importance of praying for government officials to utilize public funds for the common good of the people.

 

 

Mr. Obi made the call in Ntigha, Isiala Ngwa North Local Government Area, during a Thanksgiving Service organised in honour of the Member representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency, Chief Ginger Onwusibe.

 

While highlighting the challenges of upholding integrity in Nigerian governance,Obi pointed out that praying for people in government remains an essential practice that would give them divine direction to remain committed to meeting the needs of the people.

 

He stressed the need for leaders to be faithful stewards of public resources for the betterment of citizens and the nation and urged continuous prayer for those in government.

 

“Do remember us in prayer, remember the people in government in prayer because it is very difficult for one to continue to do a good thing when you are in government in Nigeria.

“I urge you to remember them in prayer always and let your prayer point always be let God touch all of us to use public money for public good.

“It is not our personal money as long you do that Nigeria would get better“, Obi stated.

 

Obi thanked God for the Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti and Hon. Onwusibe for their commitment to serving the people and ensuring democracy dividends for all.

 

He said that government cannot solve all the problems of the citizens, but can use the resources meant for the people to improve the living standard in the country.

 

“When you have good people in government, there is hope for the masses.

 

“The government cannot solve all the problems but at least let people see that their resources are being used for their good,”Obi added.

In his speech, Governor Otti while commending Hon. Onwusibe for remembering to come back to thank God for being a pillar of support to him, regretted that people sometimes tend to forget that God is the giver of increase and the one that makes everything possible.

 

 

“Hon. Ginger has done very well. He is a good man with a heart of gold and that is why it is was not difficult for me to give him the ticket to go and contest” he noted.

 

 

In his address, Hon Onwusibe thanked God for delivering him from the numerous travails that he encountered before his emergence as a House of Representatives member as well as the governor for his support and urged him to continue to do the things that would foster socioeconomic growth in the state.

The Primate of the First African Church Mission, Dr Sunday Matilukuro, in his sermon, described the life of Hon Onwusibe as a manifestation of God’s word in Proverbs 22: 29.

 

Matilukuro commended Hon Onwusibe for his faith in God and urged him to remain committed to serving the people with diligence.

 

 

The event attracted dignitaries from all works of life.
