CP AFOLABI CHARGES OFFICERS TO SUSTAIN ACHIEVEMENTS, ENSURE CONTINUITY AT FINAL COMMAND CONFERENCE.
The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, has charged officers of the Command to sustain the achievements recorded during his tenure and ensure continuity of effective policing as he prepares to hand over leadership.
CP Afolabi gave the charge on Friday, November 6, 2026, during his final strategic command conference with senior officers of the Command, including Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Tactical Team Commanders and Heads of Departments.
The conference, themed “Sustaining Achievements and Ensuring Continuity,” provided an opportunity for the police commissioner to appreciate the loyalty, dedication and cooperation of officers, which he said contributed to the successes recorded under his leadership.
He also acknowledged the commendation received from the Executive Governor of Abia State and subsequently recognised by the Inspector-General of Police, describing the recognition as a collective achievement of the Command.
The police commissioner urged officers to sustain intelligence-led policing, proactive patrols and intelligence-driven operations, directing all divisions to maintain daily crime mapping and analysis to identify crime patterns, security hotspots and emerging threats.
He emphasised the need for effective leadership, supervision and accountability, directing Area Commanders, DPOs and Tactical Team Commanders to conduct regular inspections and take responsibility for the conduct and performance of their personnel.

CP Afolabi also announced the reinvigoration of the Command’s X-Squad through the deployment of versatile officers and provision of a serviceable operational vehicle to strengthen its capacity to tackle misconduct, unprofessional behaviour and violations of police regulations.
On operational documentation, he directed officers who recently completed media training to apply their skills in professional photographic documentation of police activities, situation reports (SITREPs) and crime scenes.
He further urged police formations to sustain Community Safety Partnerships, strengthen relationships with traditional rulers and other stakeholders, and maintain regular public engagement as well as prompt responses to complaints.
On election security, CP Afolabi stressed the importance of adequate personnel preparation through operational briefings, emphasising discipline, neutrality and professionalism in the discharge of duties.
He equally directed officers to prioritise personnel welfare, ensure appropriate medical assessments for personnel showing signs of psychological distress and maintain strict compliance with medical clearance requirements for armed duties.
The commissioner further instructed that all vehicles, generators, facilities and equipment repaired or provided during his administration be properly maintained and protected against negligence and misuse.
CP Afolabi urged officers to give the incoming leadership maximum cooperation and ensure that the initiatives, structures and standards established during his tenure were sustained.
He stressed that his departure should not mark the end of the Command’s progress but rather provide an opportunity to consolidate existing achievements and build on the foundation already laid.
The police commissioner charged officers and men to remain committed to discipline, professionalism, intelligence-led policing and service to the public, noting that the true measure of leadership lies not only in achievements recorded but also in ensuring that such achievements outlive an administration.
